The article reports on a recent Crain’s New York Business panel titled “Is Landmarking Out of Control?” Panelists included Peg Breen, President of the New York Landmarks Conservancy; REBNY President Steven Spinola and Nikolai Fedak, Founder and Editor of New York YIMBY, a pro-development blog.
The lively, sometimes contentious panel took place at the New York Athletic Club, itself a classic example of New York’s Roaring Twenties Beaux Arts: the picture shows the building’s magnificent 9th floor loggia, a recessed balcony common in Italian architecture but infrequent in the US.
