— No CommentsDeveloped as an annex to the original store for Lord & Taylor, 119-121 Fifth Avenue is a richly ornamented design by John H. Duncan. Constructed as in 1905, the building was connected via bridges to Lord & Taylor’s prior annexes at 4 East 20th Street and 129-131 Fifth Avenue.
An attic frieze of trophy panels and swags, four story arches capped with sculptural keystones and an elegant cornice made of galvanized iron help give 119-121 Fifth Avenue a vigorous profile on one of the most architecturally distinguished blocks in the district.
An old mural for Phillip Morris Cigarettes once visible on the northern wall dated from a time when the company was a major tenant in the building.
