1014 Fifth Avenue

The former home of the Goethe Institute (now relocated to Irving Place), 1014 Fifth Avenue was once part of a pair of speculative houses designed by Welch, Smith & Provot.
In contrast to their design for the Duke-Semans Mansion, the firm produced a reserved façade for 1014 Fifth Avenue…which more recent arrivals have left looking a bit squashed.
