1200 Park Avenue

Originally a rental building built in 1928 to designs by Emery Roth, 1200 Fifth Avenue was converted to a condominium residence in 2004. Somewhat overshadowed by the Mt. Sinai complex, it is enlivened by trickles of Spanish Renaissance ornament.

1184 Fifth Avenue Mt. Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital

Mt. Sinai’s Kravis Children’s Hospital is one of the top-ranked pediatrics centers in the United States.  It is housed in a building at 1184 Fifth Avenue that attempts to mimic nearby apartments houses and would probably have blended rather seamlessly in were its immediate neighbors less disruptive.

1176 Fifth Avenue Mt. Sinai Hospital’s Klingenstien Pavilion

The Klingenstein Pavilion of Mt. Sinai Hospital serves as the hospital’s main location for obstetrics and gynecological practices. One of the foremost such centers in the city, the building that houses it at 1176 Fifth Avenue is a rather pedestrian design.

1170 Fifth Avenue

J.E.R. Carpenter’s design for 1170 Fifth Avenue simply reverses the details and entrance of 1165 Fifth Avenue, directly across the street. The building was built in 1926, a year later than its “twin”.

1165 Fifth Avenue

Another design by J.E.R Carpenter, 1165 Fifth Avenue was built in 1925.  Its nearly exact duplicate, by the same architect, stands directly across the street, lending an odd mirror-image atmosphere to East 88th Street.
